The first quarter of 2026 was marked by intensified humanitarian pressures across Ukraine, including the coldest winter in nearly a decade, continued attacks on civilian infrastructure, and growing strain on frontline communities and healthcare systems. Despite these challenges, the Yashchenko Foundation maintained uninterrupted operations across all core programmes while further expanding its regional reach.
During the quarter, the Foundation delivered more than 59 tonnes of humanitarian assistance across 23 communities in Ukraine, supporting over 41,000 beneficiaries. This included the distribution of approximately £7.4 million worth of critical medical aid to hospitals and healthcare facilities across nine oblasts, with a particular focus on frontline and conflict-affected areas.
The Foundation’s Walking Blood Bank programme also continued to scale, conducting 26,865 blood typing tests and registering 1,964 new donors across 11 regions. The initiative plays a critical role in strengthening emergency trauma response capacity and building resilient community-based donor networks in areas heavily affected by the war.
Alongside medical programming, Shelter/NFI and WASH interventions supported more than 12,000 vulnerable individuals through the distribution of winterisation kits, hygiene supplies, and essential household items during a period of severe winter blackouts and heating disruption.
In Q1 2026, the Foundation also expanded activities into Moldova through a targeted humanitarian programme supporting vulnerable families and children in Ialoveni District.
The quarter reflects the Foundation’s continued focus on delivering practical, high-impact humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities while strengthening long-term operational capacity across the region.
